WORKBOOK SELECTION / CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Choose practice that makes you explain the exception.

Use this path when you can describe a change process but struggle to compare a messy timeline with its actual requirements. The preparation focuses on evidence, criteria and the conclusion you can support.

Choose by the work you need to practice.

Useful for IT audit and GRC candidates seeking self-directed case practice. If your need is a professional audit methodology, a certification syllabus or organizational change-leadership coaching, this workbook does not provide those services.

Chapter 4 examines an emergency change approved the next morning, including a fictional procedure, follow-up evidence and a discussion of severity. Chapter 7 develops a finding supported by the records. The full workbook includes three timed mock sessions.

The genuine eight-page excerpt shows the contents and opening access-review case. The later emergency-change chapter is outside that public excerpt. The change exercise below is separate original material for this page.

ORIGINAL FICTIONAL EXERCISE

Try the decision first.

Fictional Beacon Drafting permits emergency authorization by a designated duty manager, with a retrospective review within two business days. A deployment occurs Tuesday at 22:15 after a recorded authorization at 22:02. The Friday retrospective record gives no explanation of timing. For this exercise, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are ordinary business days.

Which part of the process needs follow-up, and what facts would you check before drafting a finding?

Teaching material, not a verified employer question or prescribed assessment procedure.

Your practice output

A timeline with separate authorization, deployment, retrospective-review and record-entry events, followed by a scoped finding or unresolved question.

Read the worked reasoning

The sequence can support prior authorization if the record identifies the same change and an authorized duty manager. The retrospective timing needs separate examination against the fictional two-business-day rule. Verify what the Friday timestamp represents, the actual review time and the applicable counting convention before finalizing the observation.

Change the evidence

If Thursday meeting minutes establish a timely review and Friday is only the entry date, revise the timing conclusion. Check any separate recording requirement on its own terms. Do not invent one, and do not use successful deployment as proof that approval or retrospective requirements were met.

A practical way to decide.

A free example may meet your immediate need. Choose the full workbook when its additional cases and repeatable written practice address a specific gap.

  1. Attempt the free timeline and name the requirement you are applying.
  2. Inspect the book contents and opening sample to judge the writing and worked-answer style.
  3. If you choose the full workbook, use the workpaper template and qualitative self-review companion to record your reasoning and revisions.
